At the Fourth PrepComm for the International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held from 30 April to 1 May 2025, Erica Levenson, speaking on behalf of Regions Refocus and the Civil Society Financing for Development Mechanism, issued a powerful critique of the current multilateral trading system. Levenson emphasized that the intersecting crises of our time—economic, ecological, political, and social—are deeply shaped by unjust trade rules that systematically disadvantage the Global South, especially women and marginalized communities.
